You're Not Looking for Average Therapy

If you're here, you're likely looking for something that works beneath the surface.  Talk therapy provides insight, but often. that's not enough.  Hypnotherapy doesn't just hash through the same stories again and again. It's laser-like work to get to the heart of what needs help.

I've spent 25 years in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy helping people access layers where change actually happens.

A 30-minute consultation gives you a chance to feel whether this approach is the next right step.

Hypnotherapy: The Door to Even Deeper Awareness

Alpha brainwaves hypnosis. Somatic awareness, subconscious rewiring, deep trancework beyond talk therapy..

You know that feeling when your body is really relaxed, it's almost asleep, but your mind feels awake and crystal clear? That’s what we’re going for.

When I guide you through hypnotherapy, your brain gently shifts gears from the busy mind of daily chatter into a calmer, more spacious rhythm. You’re not checked out, you’re actually more tuned in.

Your body, your imagination, your intuition all light up and suddenly feel luminously alive.

What strikes me every time is how quickly the impossible becomes possible... a door swings open inside, and suddenly we’re touching something underneath the surface that feels more real than real. In that space, the clutter of the everyday mind fades, and something quieter and wiser begins to guide us. Once you’re resting in this peaceful state, something important happens: the body finally lets out a breath it didn’t know it was holding.

That’s why I use hypnotherapy: because it takes us into places that ordinary talk can’t touch.

Can I Be Hypnotized?

Paige Bartholomew, LMFT, Hypnotherapy for PTSD, emotional overwhelm, physical symptoms. Gentle techniques to reach subconscious blocks. s
Some people ask me, “What if I can’t be hypnotized?”  My answer is simple: YOU CAN.

Hypnosis is just guided relaxation. In your ordinary, daily waking life, you’re in what's called a BETA brainwave pattern, which is the state of being alert, thinking, and doing.

But when you enter meditation, guided visualization, or hypnosis, the brain eases into what's called the ALPHA brainwave pattern. ALPHA isn’t sleep, and it isn’t daydreaming. It’s a different kind of awareness...softer, more receptive. Your body rests, but your mind becomes vividly alive, tuned to important signals you normally miss. It’s like driving a familiar road and suddenly realizing you don’t remember the last few miles. You’re present, but in a different way.

Brain imaging shows this shift clearly. The photo here is an MRI scan of the brain.  The image of the brain on the left is showing normal waking consciousness, or BETA brainwaves. The image on the right was taken after just 10 minutes of meditation (which is essentially the same thing as hypnosis). This image shows slower and more organized ALPHA brainwaves.

Notice how the whole pattern of brain activity shifts when you enter a balanced state of awareness.

Regions of the brain that normally chatter with busyness
grow quiet, while deeper networks begin to light up. It’s one of the reasons hypnotherapy feels so different from talk therapy... because the very state of the brain has shifted to make room for something new.

In my 25 years of practice, I’ve never met a single person who couldn’t enter this state. O
nce you’re there, the subconscious begins to speak in its own language: images, sensations, flashes of memory. Our work is to listen closely, and in that listening, the parts of you that may have been hiding start to reveal themselves.

There's a Big Difference Between a Hypnotist and a Hypnotherapist ~

A HYPNOTIST can take a quick, 6-week course and then immediately start treating clients with no supervision or oversight committee.  The danger here is that they have been given little or no training in how to keep things feeling safe when strong emotions rise to the surface (and they likely will). Most hypnotists focus on habit change... things like smoking or weight loss. They may help you relax, calm your brainwaves, and then repeat scripts like, “You longer smoke. You no longer smoke.” Some hypnotists even do stage shows where people end up clucking like chickens or doing things they’d never normally do. That’s entertainment... not healing. And it’s the opposite of what real hypnotherapy is about.

Real hypnotherapy never takes away your control.

A HYPNOTHERAPIST, on the other hand, is a licensed therapist. Psychotherapists know how to contain big feelings and they know what to do when upsetting memories surface. They know how NOT to re-traumatize you. I'm both a licensed psychotherapist and a certified hypnotherapist, which means I can use trance states not just as a technique, but as a safe doorway into the deeper layers of your healing experiences.

In my work, I use hypnotherapy ethically. Big emotions are welcome, and they’re met with safety. Together, we use these states to access your deeper wisdom... your higher self, your intuition, so you can finally move through the places where you may have felt haunted by your past.

Hypnotherapy: Access to Your Intuition

Accessing inner wisdom and intuition through hypnosis. Body-mind integration. Learning the language the body speaks.
Many people tell me they’ve lost touch with their intuition...or that they’ve never really felt they had it to begin with. They come hoping to find that quiet compass inside, the one that can steady them when everything else feels confusing or overwhelming.

In hypnotherapy, we begin to learn the language of intuition. It doesn’t usually speak in sentences. It speaks in images, physical sensations, and impulses. These are the subtle ways your body and psyche communicate the deep-down information that words can’t reach.
